Yacht Cake 2 ( replacement cake )

This is the replacement yacht cake i had to make after the 1st yacht cake fell from the stool. I stayed overnight to re-bake and re-decorate the cake again and slept only 2 hours just to get the cake to be delivered on time.

This cake is much smaller than the 1st yacht cake since i didn't have much time and i downscaled the batter and also the size of the cake. I didn't have as much time to add in as much details on the cake as i would like, plus lacking sleep i was having a headache.

The yacht is named 'Tuxedo" because that's the name of my boss' boat...but of course the above doesn't look like my boss' real boat.

Everything on this cake is made from edible material and cake flavor is Coffee Cake with Coffee Buttercream.

Thankfully this cake made it in time for my boss' celebration dinner.

PS: Im typing these 2 yacht posts with 2 hrs of sleep..so my sentences might sound weird..but i'll correct later after i have enough sleep..hahahaha..

....The Next Day....

My boss gave me this photo he took last night after the cake was cut.  I find it pretty interesting to see the  inside of the cake though..maybe because most of the time i don't get to see the inside of the cake or the cake being cut.

  2. Oh! My heart sank for you when I read of the first sunken yacht! You are a champion to pull the all nighter. Both cakes were breathtaking!

  3. Oh my god. I would be in pieces if this happened to me, imagine if you'd not had enough stuff to make it again and the shops were shut because it was the middle of the night.

I think the second one looks better but I wish you hadn't had to make it if you see what I mean!

  4. Faithy! I'm in awe with every one of your artistic cakes. And to think you stayed up all night and did this one twice! Really, when are you going to open a custom cake shop?

  5. Your cake looks terrific! You are amazing to de do the cake with so little time left to do so. How your heart must have sank when the first one fell! But I can not say which of the cakes is my favourite. Both look good and equally detailed.
This should get you the end of year pay check bonus!

  8. Oh my! Faithy, I'm so sorry for what happened to your cake and for your lack of sleep. I hope your boss let you leave early. Both cakes are so awesomely beautiful. I think this is my favorite so far of all the fondant cake that you've made (I hope it's okay that I pick a favorite). It's so cute. I would not want to eat it if it's my cake! I still can't believe you made 2 and still managed to blog about it. Amazing!

  9. It looks awesome, Faithy!! I love it. Having made a cake with fondant for the first time this past weekend, I can only imagine how much work this was. Great job. With only 2 hours of sleep, you did great. I probably would have written "yawn" instead of "tuxedo" on the boat, ha ha, and made the water yellow or something.

  13. Oh no - a caketastrope! It does happen once in a while to everyone - it totally sucks! The feeling of disbelief when it is on the floor and you just want to rewind or undo. But you didn't give up - that is awesome! You know what you can do! The cake is amazing!

  15. The cake looks really cool!! I ain't up to that level yet. Kudos to you!! I truly admire your persistence and spirits! If I were you, I'd have gone insane, too! (I guess the people around me would have been scared off by my psychotic behavior, too! LOL!)

Hope your boss liked it, so was the crowd! You truly deserve the praise!

  17. Thank you all for your lovely & kind comments! :D

I have finally gotten enough sleep..lol! But not totally recovered the hrs of slept i missed the other night. After i dropped the cake, i was like in disbelieve and like what @Juanita said, i wished i could re-wind or press the undo button..LOL! I stood motionless and it was my husband who cleared up the mess! And he was the one who encouraged me to do it again.

And it was middle of the night and like @Sarah said, all the shops were shut and i ran out of bleached APF, so i ended up using unbleached APF..didn't affect the taste much, thankfully! LOL! I had extra fondant & stuff, so i was thankful that i kept everything extra for just in case of emergency! :)

Since it was cake for my boss and i promised i would bake him a cake, i thought i should deliver what i said i could do. Hopefully like what @Melinda & @Purplesque said, he will give me a huge BONUS..year end! LOL!

Glad to know that cakecastrophe doesn't happen to me just alone,@ Juanita & @Dhanya! :)

Thanks @Vicki & @Monica for having such faith in me to open my custom cake shop! It's a lot of work to open a cake shop..lol!..i want my life to be on the relax side (so i'll age slower and look younger? LOL!).... I guess baking as a hobby is different from baking everyday for a lot of people, can be very stressful.

Thanks @Jenn and it's ok to pick a favorite of course! :) I couldn't get back to sleep even though i wanted to since my son (who's autistic) is very hyper & noisy (he sings very loudly..lol) so i took the time to blog instead.

@Hanaâ, your comments made me laugh out so loudly! It never occurred to me to do that, i think i was too dazed..lol..now that you mentioned, i think i should have!

Thank you @Purplesque, @Virginia, @Sarah, @Vicki, @Melinda @Monica, @Dhanya, @Jenn, @Hanaa, @Mendy, @Lois B, @Stephanie,@Angie, @Juanita @Elaine, @Tracy, @Pei-Lin & @Cherie for your kind words! :) All of you are so sweet! Getting to know all of you is the best thing that came out of having created my blog.

  18. Faithy, you are incredible! Both cakes are amazing.

So sorry that you had to test your skills under time pressure and with the added challenge of sleep deprivation. You sailed through (excuse the really bad joke) with flying colours!

    Do you do sculpture?

  19. Faithy,
If this is what you can produce after a long day of cake baking and decorating, then you really are an extremely talented and dedicated baker, without question. I am continually amazed at what turns up in your blog, lady!! I'll bet your boss was tickled pink by his beautiful yacht cake. Really wonderful, Faithy.
    :) Jane
